Health-X Lab at MICCAI 2024

10/21/2024

This year, our Health-X Lab had a number of presentations on medical AI and VR research, including generative AI and foundation models at MICCAI 2024, the leading venue for medical image computing and image-guided surgery.

Notably, our MSc graduate Reihaneh Teimouri received nomination for the best paper and young investigator awards, and MSc trainee Christopher Neves won the best paper award (1st place) at the MICCAI Machine Learning in Clinical Neuroimaging (MLCN) workshop!

We are grateful for the insightful discussions and interests for our works from the community. Look forward to sharing more exciting research in the coming year!

Health-X is looking for undergrad researchers for Summer 2022

1/9/2022

After the success of Summer 2021 (Kudo to our trainee Owen Hellum), Health-X is looking for undergraduate trainees to participate in exciting research projects in medical imaging and surgical science in Summer 2022!

Potential students will be sponsored by Health-X for the Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) program for 16 weeks of research experience, and will be compensated for $7.5K for their research work. They will also have the opportunity to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals and attend international conferences.

The candidates should have experience in programming (C++, C# or Python), are in good academic standing in their program (a CGPA of 3.3 or higher), have completed at least 30 credits in the program, and will return to their academic program after the summer.  If you are interested, please forward your CV and transcript to yiming.xiaoATconcordia.ca.

Health-X Lab is in the news!

12/4/2021

Health-X Lab's work on the diagnosis of low back pain has been featured in Concordia's university news portal!  Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eRa7WRSq

Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions that require medical attention and in most cases, the cause are not clear. This makes it challenging to recommend effective treatment strategies to ease the suffering. We investigated the shape of low back muscles to probe the relevant degeneration as a potential biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis. The article was published in Scientific Reports.
